08.05.03 Just thought I would let everyone know that Avi is in good spirits. He doesn't know what all of the fuss is about and why so many people from all over the world are interested in him? Avi, you are a true hero! Many lives were saved that night (including mine) and I can't wait to see you back smiling and hangin' with the Mikes Place gang. Keep the Kilkenny cold!Bruce MazerTel-aviv Israel
11.05.03 wow, where do I start. This was going to be a happy message because finally things are starting to get back to normal but there's still nothing happy on this subject. I think I can say from the whole staff in Tel Aviv that opening within a week couldn't have happened without all the support we fed off of from this site. I know Gal, Assaf, UK Dave, everyone on the team (too many to list) and myself couldn't have done it without all of you and all those here in Israel. Thank you. Since our re-opening we have been shown not only solidarity but have had crowds that have amazed me. Mike's Place is bigger than any bomb, any one location, and we are beyond politics. Avi, beyond words. Known you for 12 years. From Givati to Mike's Place and still going. I love ya, and can't wait so see you dance your now famous 'jig' again! I'll see you tomorrow bro. Dom, you've been here since it all began, I'm at a loss for words, a week later and I already miss you so much. Yanay, for the last year I've been hearing you play, I've always thought you were amazing. I was next to you when you fell. I don't know why you and not me, you will be missed by so many. Ran, I didn't really know you but you knew where to hang out. Somebody made a big mistake and took all of you away. I saw you all go. I'm so sorry. To all the injured, we miss you and can't wait to down a beer together at the bar. Come home soon! Thank you all again.Downtown DaveMike's Place Tel Aviv

Just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to those of you who came along to the Mikes Place Benefit Gig on Saturday 28th June. The Spitz Club was packed with a crowd of more than 200 who joined us for a great night of live music and beer. Bands from Cardiff to Leeds to Brighton came down to London and put on a fantastic performance. The night was headlined by our boys back-home - Mike, Andrei and Gadi who flew in from J'town and rocked the stage (despite a closed bar!). Many of you poured into the gallery to see the exhibitions by Yael Aviv and Shira and sign our guest book. The evening was a huge success and between ticket sales, the raffle and T-Shirts, we have so far raised over Ł2,000 for The Fund.

Since the event, many of you have told me what a great atmosphere it was in the Spitz that night (including the staff) and many more of you talked of the great people you met. There were also a few reunions! If we managed to achieve this in London for one evening then we were truly successful in our aim to share the Mikes Place spirit internationally, as well as raising money for our family. Thank you for sharing this special night with us.

Of course there are lots of people behind the scenes to thank...I will try and keep it brief: Dave - what a star! Vanessa (the raffle queen), Andy, Camilla, Craig and Row - you guys are the best. Natalie, Martin, Elke, Tracy for all your hard work on the night. Ellie for curating an entire exhibition in under 2 hours, Craig & Josh for your camera work.. and more, Sidney Baginsky our resident accountant, Sloane and Solly. For flying in the band Brent Tanner, Sharon Travel (Sam you are the best!), West End Travel, Fort Air and Benji - your generous donations made it possible. CST for your security and the boys at Scotland Yard, Brian and Winn. Alex you managed the fastest sound check in history and kept the place rocking. We never really had the press behind us in the Uk but to those that took on our story... thank you: Judi Herman (BBC Radio), Martin Lewis (BBC), Jo (Intelligent PR), Jenny Hazen (Jerusalem Post), Louise Scodie (JC) and Walter Bingham (Radio 4). To the entire team at London Jewish News - you guys believed in us from the very beginning and helped us every step of the way. Dan Levitt & Dan Whiteman for the poster headaches (sorry!!!), Justin Cohen - you truly rock! Danny Boy for going beyond the call of duty...nothing to say to you - except see ya in Israel..We love ya!

To all the bands - honorary members of the Mikes Place stage (welcome anytime): Electric Experience, Pylon, Maxtones, Firefly and Natureboy for giving your time and energy and putting on the best show ever. Joe and Karl - you guys kick ass! Blues Train - against the odds you made it happen.
Laheim!!
Lastly to all our family back home, for your total support and love in these difficult times...see ya all real soon.

Just wanted to send out a big THANK YOU to all of you who came out and helped make the June 28th New York City Benefit for the Mike's Place, Life After Terror Fund a great night!

On our first day of gorgeous weather here in Manhattan, we had around a hundred people attend the concert, plus our numerous volunteers!

Hosted by The Bowery Poetry Club and in the true spirit of Mike's Place, the live music by MaMa Gutay, Rod Cone Situation, Triplefreak and Mike's-Place performer Noah Solomon with Soul Farm was incredible and kept everyone's spirits up, insuring a good vibe and a good time had by all!

Documentary filmmaker Jack Baxter, who was seriously injured the night of the attack in Tel Aviv at Mike's Place, gave a truly heartfelt and eloquent speech.

Seeing his bandaged arm and walking cane brought a sobering reminder of the tragedy that occurred that night. Jack kept the mood light, even while paying homage to those who were injured or lost their lives at Mike's Place on the tragic evening of April 28th.

We were also happy to welcome to the benefit, Dr. Dave, one of the doctors who helped take care of Jack in Tel Aviv.

The raffle drawing was a terrific success, and a number of lucky winners took home great prizes. A terrific night overall, we raised just over $1,000 (!) for The Life After Terror Fund, and hopefully will be able to sell the remainder of our Special Benefit T-shirts and add another $1,500 to the fund!

A Special Thank You to Maariv Newspaper, Revital Druyan and Oren Yaniv for the incredible three-page article, featuring us on the front cover of the Maariv America Section 27/06/03, to Bruce Kivo for filming our event, to Jack & Fran Baxter, and to the bands: Soul Farm -- C & Noah; the guys from MaMa Gutay -- Todd, Jefe, & Sandro; from Triplefreak -- Adam, Brad, Joe, & Drew; & from Rod Cone Situation -- Rod, Amy, Hodge, & JW! A big thank you to all the restaurants and businesses who helped make our raffle possible; Friend House, Pangea, Cafe Deville, Rectangles, Integral Yoga, Sarah Gluck, April Cantor, King David Fine Art and Express Color!

And a final thank you to all of our volunteers, Lisa-Thi Beskar, Aaron Gluck, Bob Holman, Lucky Dave, George & The BPC gang, Eytan Fayverman, Barbara Kopeloff, Barry Blumenfeld, David, Veronica Dougherty, Evelyn, JW Perkins, Jane Goldberg, Rachel Alkalay, Michal Eisig, Mary Beth Hurt, Lior Deljo, Jessica Maier, Hans Smetana, Lisa Magnus, and Chris London.

THANK YOU to all of you who came out and helped make the June 28th Chicago Benefit for the Mike's Place, Life After Terror Fund a great night!

The event was held on the outdoor patio at McGee’s, a popular bar in Lincoln Park and over 100 people came to show their support for those injured in the attack. Live music was contributed by the band Murph who kept spirits high throughout the night with his mix of rock and acoustic music.

In the middle of the evening, the news piece done on the attack by Israel National News was shown to all those in attendance. It gave a stark reminder to everyone why we were all gathered and hardened our resolve to help those injured in terrorist bombings wherever they may occur. A giant card was signed by those who came out and will be sent to Mike’s Place in Tel Aviv to display and to also let the victims of the attack know that we are thinking of them and wish a speedy recovery for all.

The raffle drawing was a great success, and a number of lucky winners took home great prizes. A terrific night overall, we raised about $1,400 for The Life After Terror Fund. Not bad for an event that was planned in only three weeks!

A special thanks to all those who donated their time, services, and prizes for the raffle: McGees, Bar 1 Events, The Second City, Zanies Comedy Club, Flat Top Grill, Topo Gigio, The Fireplace Inn, and Video Replay.

And a final thank you to all of our volunteers, Ariel Vinokur, Joshua Taustein, and Lesley Eisenberg.

The event was held in a Toronto club and was very well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who took part. It was a pleasure to be involved in this event and to be able to donate funds to the Life after Terror Fund. Wish we could do more to help and hopefully there will be other events shortly
